Engineering Intern

Role Objectives:

Develop a general understanding of the various roles, processes and procedures that support product development within Engineering.

 

Principal Role Activities:

  • Interns participate in the day-to-day activities of assigned functional area assisting in the completion of tasks as required.
     
  • Assigned functional areas for Engineering Interns include, but are not limited to the following:

Functional Area:

Activity / Responsibility:

Prototype

Manufacturing and assembly of components / assemblies

Physical Test

Verification and analysis of components / assemblies

Material Labs

Metallurgical and/or chemical analysis of components

Vehicle Engineering

In-vehicle performance of components / systems

Application Engineering

GKN representative to the customer.  Interacts with customers as well as functional areas noted above.

Perform regular performance reviews in conjunction with supervisor and intern advisor.
 

      Perform end of semester presentation on either function or project.
 

Key Skills Required:

  • College student pursing a bachelor’s or master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Good computer application software knowledge and skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Fluent in English
  • Hold a valid driver’s license.
