Controls & Software Engineering Intern

Work within System Controls Team to develop and support mechatronics systems for Torque transfer devices, Inverters, Traction Motors. Support feature analysis, algorithm development and verification/validation for ePowertrain Support development of virtualization framework for vehicle and system simulation and test.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Simulation and Modeling

-         Develop controls algorithms for Rapid Prototype and/or Production systems using CAE tools            

-         Develop plant models and author co-simulation platforms representing vehicle dynamics and hardware with controls functions

-         Build Auto-Code, S-Functions and release artifacts for integration and deployment in ECU, Dyno simulation, etc.

-         Create automation scripts for data analysis, simulation, testing

Verification and Testing

-         Develop verification and validation plans for functional accuracy and robustness

-         Perform model-based calibration, functional testing using methodologies s.a. MIL, SIL, HIL

-         Document test results, deviations, guidelines and procedures for testing, review and approval criteria, etc.

Configuration Management and ALM

-         Document and manage traceability of all items from conception to production in GKN ALM system

Teamwork

-         Lead and actively seek collaboration with internal and external team members.

-         Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with peers, supervisors and customers

 

 

Qualifications:

  • College student pursing a Bachelors or Master's Degree in Engineering/Science (Mechanical / Electrical / Automotive / Controls / Computer / Physics / Mathematics).
  • The ideal candidate is eager to learn, apply, teamwork and has interest in automobiles
  • Software / Tool Exposure:
    • Matlab, Simulink
    • dSpace Targetlink, RPC – MicroAutobox, CANape, CANoe
    • Dyna4 / CarSim / Adams / AmeSim / Comsol, etc.
    • Data acquisition instrumentation, wiring/harness
  • Essential Skills: (Minimum Three)
    • Understanding of Vehicle Dynamics
    • Understanding of Control Theories
    • Understanding of Power Electronics
    • Understanding of Mechatronic Systems
    • Experience with Model Based Development & Testing tools
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Must be able to work and travel independently
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Available to travel as needed to support vehicle development activities within USA: 5%
