Purchasing Intern - Summer 2024

Interns will be assigned to a department based on the candidate's background, skill set and interests. The assignments are project-oriented, meaningful to the department and allow the intern to provide valuable contributions. Interns experience a sense of personal accomplishment and learn about the corporate business culture through work assignments, structured activities, and exclusive intern networking events.  Interns that demonstrate outstanding qualities may be invited back for a return internship the following summer or may be considered for full-time positions.

Internship Format 

 

The format for this internship will be remote, meaning the intern will work virtually for the duration of their internship.  Relocation and housing will not be provided.  In some cases, business travel may be required. Remote work must be completed at a location based in the United States. 

Department Details

In a Purchasing role at Stellantis, you will be part of a team that is instrumental to the company's leadership position in the Automotive industry. Purchasing is responsible for globally sourcing all parts, goods and services by creating strategic and innovative supplier partnerships that will ensure the best quality parts for our vehicles. Purchasing is a fast-paced and exciting work environment where strategic planning and entrepreneurial spirit drives our success.

Purchasing intern assignments are project-based and structured to support sourcing, cost reduction and strategy development. Purchasing interns are not just observers but they are a true extension of our headquarters team. Purchasing intern projects may include the following:

  • Support sourcing activity including obtaining and analyzing supplier quotes
  • Market test parts or services to identify potential savings opportunities
  • Develop regression models to analyze supplier pricing
  • Work with global cross-functional teams to develop commodity strategies
  • Conduct supplier cycle time studies
  • Complete benchmarking studies
  • Support supplier negotiations

Purchasing internship projects are available within the Direct Purchasing teams (Body, Interior, Chassis & Adaptation, Electrical and Powertrain), the Indirect Purchasing team or within the Aftermarket Purchasing team. Interns may also have the opportunity to work within the Purchasing Program Management, Supplier Risk Management, Methodology & Process or Performance and Value Optimization teams. Candidates will gain industry experience, interface with all levels within our Purchasing department and apply their coursework to drive results.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field
  • Able to work 40 hours per week during the internship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of sophomore year or higher at an accredited university by the spring of 2024
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher (based on a 4.0 scale)
  • Previous internship/supply chain experience
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Computer proficient
  • Strong interest in the automotive industry and new technologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Must exhibit strong leadership characteristics
  • Creative and innovative thinking
  • Ability to travel within the NAFTA region (potential)
