Graduate Assistant Research and/or Teaching in Exercise Science - 2024/25

Job Description - Teaching Assistant:
Graduate Teaching Assistants (TAs) have a primary responsibility in an instructional capacity. They provide approximately 20 hours of instructional service per week over the course of a semester. Services provided by a graduate teaching assistant may include lecturing in undergraduate level courses, leading discussion groups, serving as assistants to laboratory classes, grading tests and papers, scheduling professor time, lesson planning, answering student questions, or making a syllabus. A TA can perform any ancillary duty that would otherwise fall to the professor.

Job Description - Research Assistant:
Graduate Research Assistants(RAs) are selected for excellence in scholarship and potential as researchers. Graduate Research Assistants provide approximately 20 hours of service per week, over the course of a semester and under the supervision of faculty members. Research activities should relate directly to the student’s degree requirements and should be reasonably expected to contribute to the student’s academic program.

Qualifications:
Graduate Assistants must be fully admitted and enrolled in the Master's of Exercise Program for at least 8 credits for each semester of the academic year in a graduate program. Graduate course work and/or research must contribute directly to the satisfaction of Oakland's degree requirements. Graduate assistants must have and maintain good academic standing (3.0 grade point average).

Tuition:
Tuition (eight credits per semester) will be compensated. Any additional credits and class fees, including books, will be the responsibility of the student.  

Compensation:
Student will receive a pay check (via direct deposit if desired) on the last business day of each month for the duration of the assistantship.
