About the Position:

Under the general direction of the Chief, Office of Complete Streets, a Supervising Transportation Planner, the incumbent plans, organizes, and manages the work of the Active Transportation Planning Branch. The work is within the Division of Transportation Planning (DOTP). The position supervises rank and file staff members, who support the Branch and Office's workload and deliverables. The Branch’s work includes establishing DOTP active transportation liaisons for districts, Smart Mobility Framework support and training, Complete Streets Elements Toolbox updates and training, support for Districts' implementation of Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committees, leading quarterly internal Complete Streets Technical Advisory Committee meetings, supporting CAT Plan implementation and updates, delivering active transportation and complete streets-related guidance, tools, and training to district staff, and coordinating cross-functionally to ensure Caltrans successful planning and build out of active transportation projects on the State Highway System. The incumbent internally coordinates with District Complete Streets Coordinators and staff, District management, DOTP offices, DOTP management, Planning and Modal Programs management, HQ Design, Asset Management, Local Assistance, Safety, Maintenance, Equity/Sustainability/Tribal Affairs, and Traffic Operations. The incumbent assesses, develops and delivers any necessary information for external partners including California State Transportation Agency, California Transportation Commission, active transportation advocates, local agencies, regional agencies, Tribal governments, and the public.
