Environmental Sustainability and Compliance Intern

As an Environmental Sustainability & Compliance Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about and contribute to a retail leading electronics recycling program. Within this space there is overlap into logistics as well as Best Buy’s overall sustainability efforts. This role specifically will focus on tracking and analyzing operational efficiencies in the transportation space of electronic recycling. In addition, you’ll participate in a summer series that includes our executive speaker events, Excel and PowerPoint workshops, and personal and professional development sessions.

This internship runs from June to August 2024. This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process. This internship does not have the potential to lead to a full-time opportunity. Housing will not be provided. 
 
What you’ll do

• Gain an understanding of Best Buy’s Electronic Recycle Program
• Perform data tracking/analysis of operational elements to improve efficiency and execution of the program
• Support education around gap management within the field

Basic qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or associate degree from an accredited college/university, with an expected graduation date between fall 2024 and spring 2027
• Must be able to work in the Richfield, MN corporate office periodically
• Must be able to commit to being no more than 2 hours driving distance from the Minneapolis Corporate Campus - 7601 Penn Ave South Richfield, MN 55423
• Must be able to work 40 hours a week Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:30am-5pm
• Must be able to commit to the internship start and end date of 6/3/2024- 8/9/2024
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization.

• Passion for Sustainability and Environmental Impact
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Suite
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management ability
