Ultium Cells Overview:

Ultium Cells, LLC. is a joint venture Lithium-ion automotive battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solution, Ltd., and General Motors. This high-technology plant is a new construction that will have the latest in battery cell manufacturing technology. This $2.3 billion investment will be among the largest battery cell manufacturing plants in the world. Ultium Cells will produce battery cells for General Motors’ North American electric vehicle applications.

Ultium Cells’ partners include LG Energy Solution, Ltd.; the world’s largest manufacturer of automotive battery cells, and General Motors; a global company committed to delivering safer, better and more sustainable ways for people to get around.


 

Position Description:

During our paid internship program, interns will have the opportunity to work on major projects and showcase their skills and talents. This program will provide each student with valuable insight, hands-on experience, and networking opportunities that will prepare each intern for their future. Interns will work alongside leaders and mentors on assignments related to your field of study to take your classroom learning to the next level. We are seeking dynamic and energetic interns who are ready to seize the opportunity and help us charge into a more sustainable, all-electric future transportation powered by Ultium Cells batteries.

•    Documenting and implementing lean manufacturing processes  

•    Through data analytics, assist in projects and activities that will drive a year over year unit cost reduction 

•    Support implementation of Ultium systems

•    Assist in projects that will optimize equipment utilization across bottleneck tools 

•    Support creation of standardization manual 

•    Use Electrical Engineering concepts to identify, evaluate and recommend improvements in operational processes, procedures and equipment while providing the analysis to suppose these changes

•    Other responsibilities assigned by manager 


 

Requirements

•    Student must be currently pursuing a electrical engineering degree (or related), junior level status at minimum

•    Basic circuit and electrical knowledge

•    Good communication, organization, and documentation skills

•    Must possess the ability to communicate plans and information in a concise, effective manner in both verbal and written form

•    Ability to work independently or with a team in a fast-paced environment 

•    Must be able to work closely with other engineers as well as people on the production floor

•    Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

•    Effective research and analytical skills
