Overview of Dept/Division:

The Staten Island Railway Operations Support team plays an important role in overseeing training, budget, finance, human resources, procurement, and labor relations activities. Many positive changes are currently underway and as such, we are seeking an individual who is interested in learning about operations support functions and the role they play in effectively supporting field personnel. The selected candidate will be a key player in change management and process improvement activities across the Agency.

Project Responsibilities:

- Independently review and document various current divisional processes, meet with stakeholders, make solid recommendations regarding efficiencies, create process flow charts and project timelines, develop implementation plans and communications for the Senior Director
- Develop updated reporting methods while seeking to synthesize various pieces of data and numerous reports into streamlined data summaries
- Assist in the review of resumes for operating positions, preparation of interview packages, and scheduling of interviews
- Develop and maintain tracking reports related to disciplinary actions
- Compile daily, weekly, and monthly reports on various safety and training activities 
- Conduct audits using available data, may develop queries and clarify information for divisional Bulletins and employee communications

Qualifications: 
- Ability to flourish in a fast-paced, customer service operating environment
- Must be able to focus on project management, deadlines and submit deliverables timely
- Must be detail oriented and be successful at working independently with minimal oversight
- Must possess the ability to work with all levels of the organization, exhibit sound judgment, and be committed to excellence on all tasks assigned
- Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to quickly analyze data and information 
- Must possess superior excel skills and possess the ability to develop project-related spreadsheets, ability to execute v-lookup processes, and develop pivot tables is preferred
- Ability to be self-taught learning products such as Microsoft Suite and People Soft
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills

 

MAJORS PREFERRED: Business Administration/Management, Public Administration, Public Policy, Public Safety Administration, Human Resources/Management, Labor Relations, Data Analytics, Operations Research/ Management, Security Management and Urban Planning/Studies.
