CAS Marketing and Communications Intern

The CAS Marketing and Communications intern is responsible for reporting to and supporting the Oakland University College of Arts and Sciences Marketing & Communications Director with social media, marketing materials, photography and other initiatives. Schedules are flexible with some on campus attendance of events required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns
  • Create weekly and monthly calendars to promote CAS on various social media websites
  • Create and distribute content such as posts, newsletters etc. 
  • Writing for web and social media
  • Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns Support marketing at live and online events
  • Compiling archive of photographs for marketing projects
  • Coordinating interviews with students, alumni, professors, and other OU leaders Combining photographs and interviews to make articles for release to press
  • Proofread promotional materials for excellence
  • Manage project requests through phone and email
  • Coordinating photo shoots and photographing students, alumni, professors, and other OU leaders
  • Contribute creative ideas for displays, websites, mailers and more

Skills and knowledge necessary for satisfactory performance include but are not limited to:

  • Current student at Oakland University 
  • Strong journalism and proofreading skills
  • Strong photography skills (personal equipment preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Regular access to computer and internet both on and off campus
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects independently
  • Proficiency with Google Docs, Drive, and Sheets
  • Self-motivation, attention to detail, and a high level of organization

Must be a College of Arts & Science major.  Majors in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, Graphic Design, English/Creative Writing and Writing & Rhetoric preferred. This can be an ongoing position.  Enrollment in an internship class is not required. Schedules are flexible with some on campus attendance of events possibly requested.     Start times can be June to September 2024
