Staff Accountant Intern

Northern Jet is seeking a qualified Staff Accountant Intern to join our team during the summer months. As an intern, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining our company’s financial health by assisting with various accounting tasks. Responsibilities:

 General Ledger Reconciliations:

o Assist with mid-level general ledger account reconciliations.

o Verify the accuracy of financial data.

o Identify and correct errors made by both internal and external personnel.

Financial Reporting:

o Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, half-year, and year-end financial close activities.

o Handle assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and accruals.

o Maintain operational management accounts.

Compliance:

o Monitor policies and procedures for assigned departments.

o Identify areas for improvement in accounting reporting and recording procedures.

o Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial requirements.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

o Maintain and update records and reports for profit and loss, taxes, liabilities, and assets.

o Prepare special financial reports as requested by management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or finance.

· Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality.

· Familiarity with accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures.

· Strong multitasking, prioritization, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience in audit accounting.

· Knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles in the U.S.)

 

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting, predominately in an office environment.
