Marketing Intern

Duluth Workforce Development and the Duluth Economic Development Authority (DEDA) are seeking one or more Marketing Interns during the Fall 2024 session, to complete projects in support of our industry sector strategy and business attraction and expansion work.  Intern(s) would work 10-20 hours per week on a range of projects, as detailed below.  Work hours and location can be flexible, with some required weekday daytime meetings with project partners taking place at City Hall or CareerForce.

Projects may include:

  • Developing a speaker’s bureau
  • Developing written and video stories of:
    • High demand industry workers
    • Successful development projects
    • Local entrepreneurs 
  • Designing infographics and other educational materials about:
    • Career pathways
    • Site selection
    • Business incentives
    • Local economic and demographic highlights
  • Developing social media content to promote:
    • In-demand careers
    • Local developments and incentives 
  • Auditing and updating webpages 

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Between the ages of 18 and 24
  • Resides in Duluth, Minnesota
  • Enrolled in a college degree program with a marketing, graphic design, or related major or minor OR previous experience with marketing and/or graphic design
  • Low-income or experiencing one or more barriers to education/employment

Wage Information:

Interns will be paid $15 per hour.  Background check will be required before work may begin.

DULUTH WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Duluth Workforce Development and its partners help connect job seekers to education and employment opportunities that will build long-term economic stability for themselves and their families, and help employers develop and implement strategies to address their workforce needs. 

We serve youth (age 14-24), college students, low-income adults and those with barriers to employment, older adults (age 55+), individuals with disabilities, veterans, and workers who have been laid off.  We provide employment counseling, job placement services, and case management support, as well as paid work experience and access to training and education for in-demand careers.

We also work with employers in high-growth industry sectors to develop and implement a range of strategies to help them meet their workforce needs.  One of the top-priority needs identified by employers in healthcare, construction, and manufacturing is marketing to raise awareness of career opportunities in Duluth and the Twin Ports.
