Accessing Home AmeriCorps Member

Are you passionate about affordable housing access and community development? Do you have a knack for helping people solve problems?

If so, we’d love to talk to you about joining the Accessing Home AmeriCorps team. Here you'd serve as an advocate for low-income Rhode Island families experiencing housing instability. Our AmeriCorps program works with a variety of Rhode Island organizations that provide housing stabilization services. Those that are recruiting a member for this upcoming program year are listed below.

What We Do

Our members serve throughout Rhode Island, helping to provide housing stabilization resources and services to residents in need. As an AmeriCorps member, you will be joining a network nation-wide of like-minded individuals with an interest in getting things done for America. In the 31 years that members have been serving with AmeriCorps, 1.8 billion hours have been served at 36,000 service locations across the country.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Orient new residents to site properties, procedures and programs.
  • Assist residents with accessing eviction prevention, rent/utility assistance, Case Management services and other connections to resources needed to prevent lease noncompliance notices and evictions when possible.
  • Promote a positive collaboration between residents and property management and serve as liaison
  • Maintain documentation of all interventions, including intake forms, privacy policies, and action plans. Keep all Personal Identity Information confidential. Enter relevant resident data into Salesforce.
  • Cultivate a network of diverse resident leaders to enhance community quality of life and build a healthy, harmonious neighborhood
  • Coordinate community events, such as resource fairs, to generate positive rapport between the property owner and residents. Make residents aware of available community resources and programming.
  • Assist residents in understanding requirements for tenancy made by Property Managers, including on time rental payments. Facilitate discussions between residents and Property Management as needed.
  • Connect residents to state, federal, and local resources, such as SNAP, DHS, food banks, etc.
  • Facilitate tenant education curriculum to prospective tenants on the NWBRV waitlist and conduct one-on-one follow-up appointments with participants to help them address specific housing barriers.
  • Provide childcare services on an as-needed basis, thereby allowing parents to meet with their Case Managers undisturbed and full focus on completing the work necessary to their family’s recovery from homelessness.
  • Attend Accessing Home Orientation, bi-weekly Accessing Home Professional Development Training and debriefs not to exceed 20 percent of total hours served
  • Provide services to at least 175 households over the course of the service term
  • Attend Rhode Island AmeriCorps statewide events & training
  • Submit bi-weekly time sheets, service logs, and reports to Accessing Home management
  • Become certified Resident Services Coordinator

Bonus Points

· You have experience facilitating workshops, classes, or presentations

· You have experience with Salesforce and Excel

· You are an experienced public speaker

· You are bilingual

Requirements

· Submit to a 3-part criminal history check (however certain offences do not exclude you from serving)

· Be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident

· Be at least 18 years old

· Have a high school diploma

· Have access to reliable transportation and be willing to travel to events around the State at least twice a month

· You must commit to serving a minimum of 1700 hours of service serving from September 3, 2024 until August 31, 2025

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $37,395.00 per year
