$22.00 - $40.00/hr., based on prior experience

Hybrid work concept currently – location Metro Atlanta. Majority of the time will be in-person, with some flexibility for occasional remote working.

Travel is estimated to average approx. 25-30%, with potentially higher travel (40-50%) during onboarding, training and as required for business reasons.

 

The Job You Will Perform:
The following duties are typical of this position, but may not be all inclusive. Each person is expected to help with whatever duties are required to ensure best data-driven decisions, safety, operational excellence, and a cost-effective workplace.   

 

  • Work with a team of data professionals at IP's Advanced Analytic Center
  • Perform variety of data analysis projects using statistical techniques for both the enterprise and for individual facilities and/or departments
  • Effectively inform, collaborate, and interact with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Create dashboards to provide user-friendly visual reports for end users
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets with univariate and multivariate analytics
  • Analyze process data to determine causes of process variability
  • Identify and define process improvement opportunities for the mill system and other groups
  • Collaborate with a variety of internal stakeholders, including mill process engineers, Manufacturing Excellence Managers, Business Unit Managers, Area Process Managers, and Technology Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand the context and the business need to maintain the quality of our products, improve the reliability of our plants, improve productivity, and lower production costs.
  • Build pro-active and constructive relationships with manufacturing sites and with Technology subject matter experts (SMEs). Excellence in customer service is expected.
  • Model manufacturing processes using advanced statistical methods to minimize manufacturing cost via cost modeling of goods, people, and equipment (continuous improvement analytics).  Data will primarily be time-series in nature.  

The Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge You Will Bring:

  • Pursuing college degree: B.S. in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical Engineering, or Pulp & Paper Science Engineering; or, Master’s of Science in Analytics. May hold a certification in Analytics.
  • Displays a passion for data analysis
  • Focuses on creativity, dealing with ambiguity, technical skills
  • Internship or co-op in a paper mill or similar industrial manufacturing facility is desirable.
  • Has an exposure to Lean/Six Sigma principles is a plus.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Learns on the fly, adapts in a highly dynamic environment, and effectively copes with and manages change, such as changing deadlines, workload, and priorities
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, results-driven individual who can also perform well in a team setting
  • Exhibits excellent communication (active listening, informing, timely, written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Has familiarity with analytic, machine learning, and visualization tools, such as Power BI, Matlab, Minitab, SQL, Microsoft Excel, Advanced Pattern Recognition (APR), PI Data Archive Tools, GE Proficy, Seeq, Azure Machine Learning, KQL, etc.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation 
  • Has a working knowledge and experience with coding, such as Python, R, SQL (SSAS, SSIS), KQL, etc.
  • Career progression may require mobility
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
