                                                        Paid Internship -$12.00 /hour

About Detroit PAL

Detroit PAL is a non-profit organization that Helps Youth find their Greatness. Each year, the organization positively impacts the lives of 8,500 youth through athletic and enrichment programs. PAL also empowers the community by training 1,000 volunteers and coaches, creating safe places for kids to play, and running quality programs that keep young people healthy and active. Detroit PAL's home office is located at the Old Tiger Stadium in Michigan near Trumbull, which is a hub of programming excellence for youth in and around Detroit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the CEO and senior non-profit leadership (Data Driven Detroit) to understand the needs of data collection and storytelling.
  • Learn and assist with the data implementation, tracking, and evaluation of Detroit PAL athletic and youth enrichment programs through data collection and its software.
  • Aid in the development and maintenance of reporting tools PAL utilizes.
  • Potential backing in data recovery, analysis, and/or modeling.


 

The best Internship experience occurs when the intern becomes fully engaged in PAL operations! Accordingly, we will provide opportunities for engagement through specific projects/responsibilities, which will be provided below:


 

Specific Projects/Responsibilities:

  • Support data management and evaluation systems.
  • Communicate and help validate data collection requirements with the CEO and Data Driven Detroit Personnel
  • Aid specific team members to plan and lead with program reporting including storytelling, surveys, and analysis. 
  • Interface with CEO and upper management to determine wants and needs for project data and reporting functions. 
  • Assist with data gathering, support continuous quality improvement, and conduct occasional analysis to inform decision-making and improve service and data delivery. 
  • Other duties as assigned



 

Weekly Hour Commitment:


 

  • 1 - 3 days per week (Hybrid schedule possible)
  • 10 - 20 hours per week

  • September 9th

General Internship Objectives

  • Understand the goals and objectives of Detroit PAL and the projects being conducted by program and administration staff
  • Gain a better understanding of the uniqueness of running youth development programs in an urban environment
  • Develop an understanding of the programmatic process from development to execution to evaluation
  • Learn more about non-profits and program management
  • Develop an understanding of how programs and fundraising work together at a non-profit
