IT Support Internship

 

The National Association of Counties (NACo)in Washington, D.C., announces an opening for an IT Technology Support Intern within the Administration team.

The National Association of Counties (NACo) unites America’s 3,069 county governments. Founded in 1935, NACo brings county officials together to advocate with a collective voice on national policy, exchange ideas and build new leadership skills, pursue transformational county solutions, enrich the public’s understanding of county government and exercise exemplary leadership in public service.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

This position requires an individual who is a self-starter, organized, detail-oriented and can manage multiple time sensitive tasks. The position requires good time management, attention detail, and a collaborative spirit. The intern will be under the guidance of the Chief Technology Officer from September through December 2024. The intern will assist in completing tier one helpdesk tasks, creating data visualizations, and providing technical and administrative support. The qualifications and skills needed for the position are presented below:

  • Assist the help desk team to deliver technology support for hardware
  • Assist with software installation.
  • Assist in collecting information for the equipment inventory.
  • Handle large datasetsand databases.
  • Maintaining rigorous data integrity for members on platform (Tech Xchange)
  • Develop Marketing list for technology webinars and networking (Power BI)
  • Experience creating technical documents.
  • Create technology presentations (PowerPoint)

 

Experience and Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will have a background in Computer Science, Engineer, Political Science, Operations & Analytics and Business with a focus on IT and Data Science degree
  • Knowledge of computer systems and troubleshooting
  • Certifications, associate degrees, or bachelor’s degrees preferred
  • Information Technology or related majors strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional people skills, with a focus on relationship-building, listening, questioning, and analytical skills.
  • Basic training and knowledge specific to hardware platforms, operating systems, communication networks, and personal computers
  • Experience with use of Microsoft Windows10 and Office 365
  • Prior help desk and/or PC lab experience preferred.
  • Experience with Apple iOS & Mac OS systems a plus

This position is open to undergraduate, graduate, and recent college graduates.

 

Hours/Salary

Interns work a minimum of 15 hours per week and no more than 25 hours per week depending on the Department’s needs and the intern’s availability. This position requires onsite availability daily with occasional work from home opportunities. NACo’s office hours are between 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM. Specific working hours will be determined in coordination with the internship supervisor. This internship pays $20 per hour.
