Assembly Production Engineering Intern

Position Overview
The Assembly Production Engineering Intern will support the engineering team in optimizing production processes and enhancing product quality. This role is designed for students or recent graduates pursuing a degree in engineering or a related field, providing hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. The intern will engage in various projects aimed at improving operational efficiency, ensuring safety standards, and contributing to overall production goals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Optimization: Conduct time studies to analyze production workflows and identify bottlenecks. Perform ergonomic assessments to ensure workplace safety and comfort for assembly line workers. Report on First Time Through Quality (FTTQ) metrics to monitor product quality and suggest improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement Projects: Utilize KAPS to enhance team member quality and job performance through targeted training and feedback. Create and maintain a database for DC tool parameters to streamline tool management and usage tracking. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements based on data-driven insights.
  • Innovative Solutions Development: Design and prototype 3D printed solutions aimed at addressing specific challenges related to quality, efficiency, or safety within the assembly process. Support new model readiness initiatives by ensuring that all necessary tools, processes, and documentation are prepared ahead of product launches. Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate ideas for improving production capabilities using advanced manufacturing technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. with a minimum 3.0 institutional GPA. 
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD software is preferred; experience with SolidWorks or AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with team members across various departments.
  • Basic understanding of lean manufacturing principles is advantageous.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks. 
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week.
