Library Marketing Intern

Job description
The library marketing intern assists library administrators, faculty, and staff with a variety of short and long-term marketing projects to highlight library operations, resources, services and events to the university community. This is a student position at Kresge Library at Oakland University.
Desired Skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills;
- Demonstrated knowledge of marketing practices, including the use of social media for marketing purposes;
- Demonstrated knowledge of graphic design concepts and techniques;
- High-level familiarity with graphic design software such as Canva or Adobe
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with designing, shooting and editing videos
Specific responsibilities include:
- Promote the Libraries and provide timely information to our users by posting regularly to our social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram);
- Develop/revise brochures, flyers, signage, web content and more for a variety of library services and resources;
- Consult with library faculty and staff to develop and implement campaigns to highlight library events and services;
- Coordinate with the Oakland Post, the University Communications and Marketing department, the Center for Student Activities and campus printing services, as needed;
- Attend library events - as schedule permits - in order to document/photograph the event for marketing purposes;
- Assist library administration in developing infographics and other visualization tools to present data effectively;
- Create and edit promotional videos
