Product Development Intern / Gel Matter | Company Ventures

Gel Matter is an early-stage NY startup creating biomimetic hydrogel materials for biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, personal care, coatings, and more industries. We are looking for a highly motivated product development intern to assist over the summer in a hybrid format (80-90% virtual) with the product development needs of the team (literature search, industry engagement, R&D planning, and market research). Product Development Intern

Responsibilities:

  • Gaining a comprehensive understanding of the company’s brand, customer base, product goals, and overall operations
  • Engaging with industry representatives in the skincare, dermatology and healthcare ecosystems
  • Providing primary literature research about current technologies, opportunities, and competition in the market
  • Collaborating with the team to design R&D and product development strategies based on literature & market findings
  • Attend weekly meetings with the team to provide progress and receive feedback
  • Assisting with daily technical-related tasks 
     

Qualifications: 

  • Students majoring in biochemistry, chemistry, biology, biomedical, premed, or related fields


Skills: 

  • Critical thinking, excellent verbal and written communication, project management, financial know-how
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite (Excel, Power Point, Word). Plus qualifications: experience with technical databases such as PubMed.
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically think and propose solutions to problems 
     

Intern will learn and develop skills in: 

  • Product development and R&D strategy
  • Project management
  • Startup and ecosystem logistics
  • Dermatology, skincare and healthcare
     

Location: Hybrid format, 80-90% virtual, with occasional in-person meetings (midtown Manhattan). In-person events (onboarding session and other) will be communicated in advance.
