10-12 hours per week

The State of New Hampshire, Executive Council has a Part-time vacancy for an unpaid Executive Council Intern. 

Summary:

The Executive Council is a five-member body that provides checks and balances on the Governor’s authority, approving state contracts, appointments, and various expenditures. As an intern, you will have a front row seat and unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience in state government operations, policy analysis, and constituent services. New Hampshire is the only state in the nation where the Executive Branch is shared between a Governor and an Executive Council. 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of an undergraduate or graduate program in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, Communications, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with discretion
  • Interest in government, public policy, and community engagement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms
  • Media skills in videography and photography (Smartphones are sufficient)

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on policy issues, state agencies, and legislative matters
  • Assist in preparing reports, memos, and briefings for the Executive Councilor
  • Attend Executive Council meetings and other government events as needed
  • Engage in constituent services, including responding to inquiries and drafting correspondence
  • Support outreach efforts, including social media updates and public communications
  • Assist in administrative tasks related to scheduling, event planning, and office operations
  • Collaborate with government agencies, local officials, and advocacy groups
