ALKU

Account Management Intern

February 2023 • Durham, NH

What I liked

My managers Caree and Zerinee made the office a fun place to come and work every single day. The summer internship was a great experience and gave me a great look into what a full time office runs like. I really enjoyed the full time employees from Andover coming to the Durham office and providing great insight on how to be a better employee and make more money.

What I wish was different

Honestly I don't think there is anything I would change, it has been great so far and can't wait to go further!

Advice

Keep your head down and have fun working hard, it is a great job with great experience and the office has great vibes.

Account Manager Intern

September 2022 • Durham, NH

What I liked

My experience at ALKU has been incredible from the start. Since starting in September of 2022, I have been able to gain real hands on experience in both account management and recruiting, and have been able to drastically improve my skills in communication, organization, and sales. Aside from the role itself, the culture at ALKU has been incredibly welcoming and supportive of all interns, and it is abundantly clear that the goal is to see everybody succeed.

What I wish was different

As somebody who is currently on my 5th semester with ALKU (including winter and summer) , I have found that sometimes trainings can become repetitive.

Advice

The best piece of advice I can share is to build connections with everyone you meet here. ALKU is full of some incredible people, both full-time employees and interns, and it is absolutely worth while to take the time to connect with them.

Account Manager Intern

September - December 2023 • Andover, MA

What I liked

I liked the energy around the office and the environment that it formed. People enjoy their time in the office and it reflects in the product of work everyone is doing. The managers and other full-time employees have been a great help with any questions or concerns that the interns may have.

What I wish was different

I don't really wish anything was different here. The environment is awesome, the people are awesome and it has been a great learning experience.

Advice

You can hit walls at anytime in this job, but don't get discouraged. If you keep your head down and keep grinding everyday you can be successful.

What I liked

What I like most about ALKU is the office culture and environment. Everyone in the office is super welcoming which creates a sense of belonging in the office and brings you closer to your co-workers. Becoming closer with everyone in the office is created a really motivating atmosphere for me. The company's motto is "have fun working hard", and this is certainly true as ALKU employees are always dedicated to their work while having fun doing it! Loved my internships at ALKU!

What I wish was different

Everything was smooth in all my experiences with ALKU. I wouldn't have changed a thing!

Advice

One piece of advice I would share is to get out of your comfort zone. This will always help you in short and long-term experiences. ALKU is a great place to get out of your comfort zone, talking on the phones, networking, etc. I remember when I first started I was so nervous! I pushed myself to just trust the process and since then I can confidently say that I have done a full 180, which has allowed me to learned more about myself and this job!

Account Manager Intern (Internet and Software)

September - December 2023 • Andover, MA

What I liked

I liked the work environment a lot, it was high energy and fun while everyone was still hard at work. The full time employees were also great, lending a hand whenever an intern needed help or clarification on a particular matter. Our training center manager Devin Quinlan was especially helpful throughout the entire internship.

What I wish was different

Nothing. The internship had a heavy workload, comparative to other internships I have worked, but the environment around the office made the days go by fast.

Advice

Some days can definitely be rough, but just keep moving forward and the success will come. Don't get discouraged by some small speed bumps along the way.

Recruiting intern

September 2023 • Andover, MA

What I liked

What I have enjoyed from my time at ALKU is the amazing people I have met here, my awesome mentor Devin Quinlan, and the opportunity for growth and learning that is provided to us here! It's been a great experience this Fall and I look forward to returning in the Spring!

What I wish was different

Something I wish could be different is the amount of time I spend in the office. Due to having a full course load this semester I've only been able to work 12 hours a week, I wish I could do more!

Advice

One piece of advice I'd like to share is actually advice I've received from several full time employees here at ALKU and that is to get comfortable being uncomfortable. Stepping out of your comfort zone is super important in order to reach your full potential!

Account Manager Intern (sales)

June 2023 • Harrisonburg, VA

What I liked

I loved the enviornment at ALKU, especially in the summer when getting to work fulltime hours. It truly is an uplifting motiviating, have fun working hard place. One of my favorite parts of being at ALKU was how willing everyone is to help. No matter if its a fulltime person in a different office or an intern every person is willing to give advice and be benefical. Being on the phones handling new objections as they come, and when youa rent sure how to handle it dicussing it right after to learn some methods. it was a great educatinal experiance and developed my sales skills a lot.

What I wish was different

I wish there was a little more shown about what a true day to day life is as a fulltime emplpyee, what the whole sales cycle from a coldcall to the deal closing looks like. You learn about it in pieces and can ask about it and have it explained. Just wish we were shown more clarly from start to fully understand the job, since interns unless you have signed an offer only get to a certain point in the cycle.

Advice

If you intern at ALKU ask questions, be a sponge, take every training and phone call with importnance. Make sure to reach out to fulltime people be curious and show a willingness to grow and want to master your own desk.

Account Manager Intern

August 2023 • Durham, NH

What I liked

I like the flexibility ALKU offers with my ever changing class schedule. The office also has a great environment where you get to meet people from all over campus. The best part is that I've been able to learn something new everytime I come into the office. There are always full time people from the Andover Office visiting so you get to meet experienced professionals as well as work with other interns.

What I wish was different

I wish I had accepted my Summer Intern offer with ALKU and not deferred until the semester started!

Advice

Be ready to dial the phone. You will hear a lot of dial tones and talk to alot of angry people. If you can keep a positive mindset and continue to grind, you will be successful at ALKU. You also need to soak in as much information as possible because there will always be something new to learn!
