Lifeguard

May 2018 • Rochester, MI

What I liked

The scheduling was flexible and I gained many friendships with my coworkers.

What I wish was different

I wish I could work more than 40 hours. We had some people leave in the middle of the summer, and by that time I had already found another job, but I would have loved to pick up more of their shifts.

Advice

You never know who is watching— always do the right thing and always be on your best behavior.

Market Research Interviewer

June - August 2018 • Auburn Hills, MI

What I liked

I enjoyed being able to interview OU Alumni and hear about their college experience and current work position. It was great to hear their perspective and the different experiences that they had at OU.

What I wish was different

Nothing. I absolutely loved every part of it.

Advice

A lot of the times you will conduct interviews over the phone, so make sure that you are very positive and use an upbeat tone. The more energy and excitement you have the more interviews you will get. Also be persistent, you may not get a lot of interviews in the first month because people are traveling, but it will pick up a lot more in July and August.

eCommerce & Compliance Specialist Assistant

April - August 2018 • Rochester, MI

What I liked

I really enjoyed the opportunity to learn more than I did during the school year due to my full time availability as well as the welcoming and friendly coworkers I had the privilege of seeing every day.

What I wish was different

To be honest there is a lack of things I would want differently; this experience was great and I hope to be able to have the opportunity to apply for this internship again.

Advice

The only advice I would have for future interns is to make sure to reach out and ask questions if you don't understand something because no question is ever a bad question.

What I liked

I loved being able to make a difference in people's lives. Researching different retinal diseases in hopes of finding treatments for newborn infants is so fulfilling, and benchwork is so much fun!
