Advice
Being a panelist and peer advisor is really dependent on putting yourself out there and being relatable. Parents and students appreciate a real and compelling student to relate to and its impossible without stepping outside of a comfort zone and being a person first and an office worker second.

Student Researcher
May - August 2018 • Pittsburgh, PA
What I liked
I really enjoyed the opportunity to do research alongside graduate students and learn from them (as well as from my PIs) more about what it would be like to be in grad school full-time. This experience gave me the chance to explore a new field (environmental engineering) that is related, but different than my current field of study.
What I wish was different
I wish that I could be there longer and continue working with my PIs. I really enjoyed the whole experience and there is not anything major that I would change about it.
Advice
Don't be discouraged if you're walking into an internship that you feel under-qualified for. Keep working hard, ask lots of questions, and pay attention to the people who are there to help you and you'll be fine.
