Financial Analyst

June - August 2020 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

During Covid, the internship moved to virtual which allowed all of the MMB (Middle Market Banking) interns to group together for the speaker series that WF had set up. I got a chance to meet a lot of other students from all around the country and listen/speak to C-suite executives to include Charles Scharf.

What I wish was different

Understandably, we weren't allowed to go into the office during our internship due to Covid so I missed out on meeting my supervisor and other analyst face to face.

Advice

Work hard, have at least 5-10 questions prepared before every speaker event, and network as much as possible.

Systems Support Analyst

January - July 2019 • Philadelphia, PA

What I liked

I liked gaining the experience of learning about a job field in Information Technology and being able to work with a team of people who specialize in database systems.

What I wish was different

The work or lack thereof I should say. The quality of the work was good but the frequency of obtaining work was not always given. I would have liked to receive more tasks and would have liked to have done a lot more.

Advice

Well for me, it made me realize that IT wasn’t really for me. I found no interest in it and working with systems wasn’t something I wanted to do as my career. So I guess my piece of advice would be to make sure that you know what you really want and what career choice you want to pursue.

Enterprise Risk Intern

June - August 2020 • Charlotte, NC

What I liked

I enjoyed how I was working on projects that I would have never learned in school.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to explore more branches in the bank.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share is to always get the most out of the experience. For example, I was in the enterprise department but I made sure to reach out to lawyers who worked for Wells Fargo because I know that I wish to attend law school in the future. So networking with others is important because people want to help.

Technology intern

July - August 2020 • Charlotte, NC

What I liked

The inclusion of feeling like I was not just an intern but a real team member. Getting to work on a real project that will be used.

What I wish was different

Due to coronavirus I worked remote. I think working in person could have provided better communication at times.

Advice

Don't stress! Your coworkers are there to help you learn and grow.

Summer Financial Analyst Intern

June - August 2020 • Denver, CO

What I liked

Wells Fargo emphasized its welcoming and hardworking company culture through a variety of speakers, workshops, and virtual events for all of its interns. Despite being mainly online, Wells was able to showcase the important aspects of each position in the company and teach interns the ins and outs of financial banking.

What I wish was different

Advice

Wells Fargo has a fantastic training program to allow interns from all different majors and experiences to expand upon their knowledge of finance and banking. They have the resources to help interns figure out what they would want to do if they stay with Wells Fargo, it is a unique and helpful experience I would highly recommend.

Investment Banking Analyst Intern

June - August 2020 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Wells Fargo's Strong Corporate Culture.

What I wish was different

It was almost perfect, I wouldn't think of a better internship experience.

Advice

I would like to share that improving social skills is key to be successful because in investment banking you are attending the investor meetings on a regular basis and presenting pitch books. In order to give influential presentations, having a high level of social intelligence is crucial.

Summer Analyst

June - August 2020 • Charlotte, NC

What I liked

I loved learning from bright and driven individuals. Wells Fargo and my coverage group in particular (Power, Utilities, and Renewables) pushed me to further my understanding of complex financial concepts. I also gained valuable exposure to Excel modeling and PowerPoint slide decks.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have experienced the office in-person, but Wells Fargo did a great job with the virtual experience!

Advice

Like anything, you get out what you put in. If you are fortunate enough to land any internship, commit yourself to learning and developing as a young professional.

Consumer, Healthcare and Gaming Investment Banking Summer Analyst

June - August 2017 • Charlotte, NC

What I liked

I loved the people. I enjoyed working with my coworkers and the other summer analysts. I liked the summer program itself. It starts with a one week training program, and then you have nine weeks with your specific team. Throughout the summer they had a couple events within my team and within the intern class to get to know people around the bank.

What I wish was different

Nothing! I enjoyed the entire program and I learned a lot!

Advice

Get to know the other summer analysts! They are there for support and also to have fun! It's a great way to start to build your network of friends and coworkers.

Analyst

June - August 2018 • Charlotte, NC

What I liked

My summer experience was incredibly challenging and rewarding. I worked incredibly long hours, but I learned so much the 2.5 months I was at Wells. Everyone in my group was excited to teach me new things about the industry and the technology involved in my job. Although I did not have much of a life beyond work, I loved my summer experience.

What I wish was different

I wish I had a better idea of what long hours would feel like– it took a solid month before I got into the swing of balancing life chores with work. Other than that, I would not change anything. The firm and location were great.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions, reach out for help, and take chances. The best way to learn is by doing, and you must remember that growth happens when mistakes are made!
