Social Media Management Intern (Comedy Platform)

About Us:
SlapStik Comedy works to provide independent comedians a voice and platform to be heard. Through podcasts, magazines, and original illustrations, we showcase rising talent while providing fresh, humorous content to our audience. With over 32,000 followers on social media and growing, we’re building a one-stop destination for all things comedy.
 

Position Overview:
We’re seeking talented and creative interns to join our social media team to manage and create engaging posts across multiple platforms for our projects- including Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Pinterest, and YouTube. As a member of the team, you have the opportunity to explore your creativity in all stages of the pipeline. In addition, we are also looking for team members who are ready to take initiative, lead where needed, and help us grow our reach even further. If you’re looking for an entry-level job and identify as someone who has passion for media marketing, appreciates feedback, and enjoys a good laugh, this role is for you! This position offers college credit.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and help grow our presence on social media platforms.
  • Create and schedule engaging, comedy-focused content.
  • Respond to comments, messages, and engage with our audience.
  • Follow trends and adapt them to fit our voice with each platform’s audience and format.
  • Work with the team to promote shows, articles, podcasts, and events.
  • Monitor analytics and make recommendations to increase engagement.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor and team via email and Microsoft Teams. 

 

Requirements:
We don’t care whether you went to college, got a degree, dropped out, are still obtaining a degree, or are self-taught. We focus on your personality and skills. Here are some things we look for in a good candidate:

  • Available at least 10 hours a week
  • Able to attend meetings every Sunday from 12:00pm to 1:30pm EST
  • Some experience using digital art or design software
  • Work independently to meet deadlines
  • Flexible team player ready to tackle any challenge
  • Strong ability to follow directions and be open to feedback
  • Passionate about design, comics, and animation with a goal to build a career in the field
  • Enjoys laughter and a fun, creative environment
  • Willing to ask questions when unsure
