The role
FT Specialist US is offering a one-year, full-time fellowship for emerging professionals looking to gain hands-on editorial experience. This is an ideal opportunity for those curious about business journalism, regardless of prior experience.
The fellow will rotate across editorial teams, gaining exposure to the various facets of the newsroom. You will work closely with editors, reporters, and multimedia producers across FT Specialist titles. Expect to join editorial meetings, contribute to live coverage, and support both news and enterprise reporting efforts. You will be mentored by a group managing editor throughout the program. The fellowship runs from September 2nd, 2025 to August 28th, 2026 and our fellow will need to be present in our New York offices.
Key responsibilities
Participate in a year-long rotational program across different editorial teams within FT Specialist US.
Contribute to news gathering, interviewing, document analysis, and story crafting.
Produce content in a range of formats including written articles, video, and graphics.
Collaborate with colleagues during editorial meetings and across assignments.
Build a portfolio of published work and cultivate a network of sources.
Receive regular feedback and mentorship from senior editorial leadership.
Required transferable skills
An interest in storytelling and a desire to learn about journalism and publishing.
Curiosity about business and economic topics and how they impact readers.
Openness to feedback and ability to work collaboratively.
Willingness to work in a fast-paced newsroom and adapt quickly to new tasks.
Experience within FT’s editorial, marketing, customer care, or product teams would be valuable.
Familiarity with FT’s editorial style, standards and audiences would be advantageous.

Further information
This role pays a salary of $65,000. The disclosed salary estimate is for our NYC office and has not been adjusted for other locations.
