Part Time Sales Associate

Position Summary: As a sales associate at the Gear Shop, you will be an integral part of bringing the spirit of Oakland University Gear Shop to life. Sales associates provide outstanding customer service and make our shoppers feel welcome and comfortable. You will be responsible for the upkeep of merchandise within the store, sales and returns of merchandise, opening and closing duties, and fulfillment of web orders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Welcome customers into the store and answer questions.
• Actively seek out customers in the store and provide an exceptional customer experience through excellent sales service.
• Determine customer needs based on their style preference and product features; suggest additional merchandise to complement customer selection.
• Demonstrate knowledge of store products to build sales and minimize returns.
• Be proficient with the point of sale and inventory system.
• Maintain store merchandising, branding and signage standards and replenish displays as needed.
• Assist in web order fulfillment processes.
• Follow all opening and closing procedures.
• Adhere to cash and asset protection and inventory control and compliance procedures.
• Perform all functions in an efficient manner, as directed by the Store Manager

Knowledge and Experience:
• 1+ years’ retail store or customer service experience preferred
• Point-of-sale systems and cash handling experience preferred

• Resourceful self-starter, works well independently as well as part of a team, and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including day, evening, weekends, and/or during holiday/spring breaks
• Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality is expected
• Ability to maneuver around sales floor and stockroom, and lift up to 25 lbs., with or without a reasonable accommodation
• Frequent use of computers and other technology necessary to perform job duties, including handheld electronic equipment
