Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Legal Intern to support our regulatory and compliance efforts for AI-based healthcare products. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in FDA regulatory frameworks, AI/ML applications in healthcare, and medical device law. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of legal, clinical, and technical experts to support Q-submissions, risk analyses, and compliance strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documentation for FDA submissions (e.g., 510(k), Q-sub, SaMD guidance)
  • Conduct legal and regulatory research on AI/ML-based medical device classification, labeling, and privacy requirements
  • Support risk assessment and mitigation strategy from a legal perspective
  • Analyze international frameworks related to AI governance, digital health, and patient safety
  • Contribute to policy memos, white papers, or comment letters to U.S. agencies or standards bodies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate student or advanced undergraduate in law, public health, regulatory affairs, or related fields

Familiarity with:

  • U.S. FDA regulations (especially for SaMD or medical devices)
  • AI/ML in healthcare or digital therapeutics
  • HIPAA, GDPR, and healthcare data protection laws
  • Background or coursework in biology, biomedical engineering, or healthcare
  • Excellent legal writing and research skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with regulatory submission processes (e.g., 510(k), IDE, De Novo)
  • Familiarity with ethical frameworks for AI in healthcare
  • Experience working in a health tech startup or regulatory agency
