Essential Functions
- Under administrative direction, serves as an SQL Database Administrator for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), performing complex installations, systems configurations, testing, and implementation of software, hardware, and operating systems for Data Center Operations/Midrange Wintel.
- Conducts and coordinates in-depth feasibility studies involving substantial technical research and systems analysis.
- Performs advanced problem diagnostics of complex operating systems and problems.
- Serves as project coordinator for full-range major/complex projects, very large hardware/software deployments, and installations across multiple agencies and locations.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.
- Requires three (3) years of professional experience in Systems Services or a related Information Technology field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of professional SQL database administrative experience with expertise in troubleshooting and optimizing Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) or tabular data models and deploying the models as databases to an Analysis Services instance, processing data loads proficiently, and configuring user permissions to ensure secured and controlled data access.
- Three (3) years of professional experience managing Microsoft SQL Server (all current Microsoft supported versions) VMware, Microsoft Windows Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server operating system support (all current Microsoft supported versions), and technical concepts including Risk Management, Web Applications, Workflow, Data Management and Business Continuity Planning.
- Three (3) years of professional experience implementing and managing Microsoft SQL High Availability features, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to support enterprise reporting and data integration solutions.
- Three (3) years of professional experience performing installation, configuration, performance troubleshooting, optimization, backup, and recovery of an SQL Server.
- Extensive knowledge of the methods, procedures, and techniques of conducting feasibility studies for system conversions and enhancements, including developing IT analysis, recommendations, and implementation plans
- Three (3) years of professional experience implementing and managing cloud-native and hybrid data platform solutions using SQL Server and Azure SQL services, including evaluating and implementing migration strategies between Azure and on-premises environments.
- Three (3) years of professional experience coordinating large-scale IT projects, managing deployments, assigning tasks, providing technical guidance, and integrating project components into final deliverables.
- Ability to analyze data logically and exercise sound judgement in defining and evaluating problems of an operational or procedural nature.
- Developed verbal and written communication skills to present technical information to others with clarity and precision.
- Working knowledge of data base structures and Microsoft Windows Server platform support.
