Our Seating Division is looking for a year-round Purchasing Intern for its location in Auburn Hills, MI.
Your mission, roles and responsibilities
The role of the Purchasing Intern is to aid the Purchasing Manager and support the department. The intern will benefit from this internship by gaining exposure to Faurecia related technologies and manufacturing methods via field trips to plants and occasional supplier field trips.
The main missions of the role are:
- Responsible to drive purchasing budget achievement, forecast updating and reporting monthly savings
- Responsible to build and keep updated the Business Cases related to Productivity Actions
- Participate actively on the development, maintenance and training of Digital Tools
- Identify and drive departmental process improvement initiatives
- Participate or lead monthly Purchasing performance review with internal stakeholders
- Monitor strategic supplier QCD (Quality / Cost / Delivery) performance. Facilitate and lead performance improvement action plans, meantime acting as Purchasing 1st Responder in case of Supplier related issues
- Interface between department and Operations or Commercial Business Unit
- Support for preparation and deployment of Commodity Strategies & Cost Models for various commodities. Contribute to the identification and implementation of productivity actions (product / process) for cost reduction, in close coordination with Commodity teams
- Monitor productivity performance for supplier perimeter through cross-functional teamwork in the plants under his/her responsibility (i.e. TVO Weekly Meetings). Present to the plants management board the productivity plan
- Challenge Commodity Buyers to achieve the Purchasing Budget for his/her plants
- Manage Supplier Charge Back (QSS), to be the Purchasing Team 1st responder in case of Escalation
- Be involved in the kick-off in program phase to prepare the start of Production. Lead transfers meetings with Program Buyers at the take-over
- Execution of the appropriate risk mitigation plan
- Provide inputs to the Commodity on supplier risks management
- Lead negotiation for Engineering Change Requests within his/her perimeter, and product productivity, in close relationship with commodities
- Trouble Shooting & Support the plant in terms of Supplier’s Quality/Delivery/costing & price issues
- Purchasing ICB (Internal Control Basics) compliance management at plant level
- Value Creation analysis (Logistic / Operations / Quality)
- Execution of resourcing of bad performer suppliers
- TVO/External VA/VE & Internal Plant productivity Management (follow up in the implementation & savings)
- Manage the prices discrepancies and monitor payment issues
Your profile and competencies to succeed
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- Working towards a Bachelor's degree or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing or Finance
- Fluent in English / Desired Spanish intermediate
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), including complex data manipulation in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, advanced formulas) and creating meaningful and straight forward presentations
- Data analysis and concatenation, analytical skills and learning agility are must-have characteristics
- Team Player, willingness to excel and resilience (“never stop at the 1st barrier”) are must-have soft skills
- Commitment to the highest ethical standards and willingness to adhere to Faurecia’s Code of Ethics and Code of Management
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Self-Sufficient
- Self-Starter
- Must be able to work a minimum of 30 to 40 hours per week, all year round. (40 hours preferred)
