Essential Functions

  • Under direction, serves as the Production Control Lead for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), performing coordinative functions for large complex information processing operations and assists subordinate staff in establishing critical production backups for environments on the mainframe according to agency standards.
  • Serves as designated lead worker.
  • Assists lower-level staff with the migration of all programs, control files, and procedures (Job Control Language (JCL) within the various production libraries for DoIT supported agencies.
  • Analyzes, develops, and maintains Disaster Recovery procedures for all production libraries and files which includes the systems that have been identified as critical applications referred to as Category One or life-threatening applications to ensure Disaster Recovery is accurate and all-encompassing for DoIT supported systems.
  • Maintains and updates requests regarding Space Allocation Management System by entering required information through submission of mainframe jobs to gather details regarding space, size, percentages, and performs pan scans.
  • Maintains Agency procedures and all requirements necessary for the use and control of Library Administration and Document Direct/Mobius View environments.
  • Prepares and produces monthly statistical reports of Library and Document Direct/Mobius View data and production logs for DoIT supported agencies utilizing various Personal Computer (PC) based software packages including but not limited to Flowchart (Visio), Power Point, Excel, and Microsoft Word.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
  • Requires four (4) years of previously related experience such as gained at the Data Processing Specialist level.

OR

  • Requires two (2) years of college coursework.
  • Requires three (3) years of previous related experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of professional experience in mainframe production control, including setting up, scheduling, and submitting jobs using automated scheduling software such as CA-Scheduler.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience conducting error analysis and resolution using Time Sharing Options (TSO) and Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF) within BlueZone (TN3270 sessions).
  • Three (3) years of professional experience utilizing online view and report archival/distribution software such as Document Direct/Mobius View to support mainframe operations.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience analyzing, developing, and maintaining Disaster Recovery (DR) procedures for production libraries and critical applications (Category One/life-threatening applications).
  • Three (3) years of professional experience preparing and generating monthly statistical reports on Library and Document Direct/Mobius View data and production logs utilizing PC-based software such as Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Word.
  • Extensive knowledge of managing Space Allocation Management System (SAMS) requests, including submitting and monitoring mainframe jobs to gather details on storage space, size, and utilization percentage.
  • Ability to analyze data logically and exercise sound judgement in defining and evaluating problems of an operational or procedural nature.
  • Ability to gain and maintain effective working relationships with agency officials, associates, vendors, clients, and others.
  • Ability to coordinate the activities of work associates to achieve desired results.
  • Developed verbal and written communication skills to present information to others with clarity and precision.
