Placement
1 intern or 1 graduate assistant at $18.81 per hour. Please note this position is not an assistantship.
Term of Placement
Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters, up to 20 hours per week each semester. Position requires occasional evenings and availability for training in early August. Position is in-person, with the potential to develop into hybrid.

Students and alumni of the University of Colorado - Denver.
Internship Experience
As a Career Counseling Intern, you will have an opportunity to:
- Provide individual career counseling and co-facilitate presentations.Content may include topics such as: career planning, guiding self-exploration, choosing a major,developing confidence and decision-making skills, exploring strengths, values, skills, and personality, designing a job search strategy, researching personal interests, learning how to build connections, preparing for interviews, building a LinkedIn profile, writing a resume and cover letter, and conducting informational interviews.
- Work closely with a team of professional career counselors to develop innovative and inclusive programming and resources representative of the CU Denver population, including guides, handouts, presentations, and recordings.
- Represent the Career Center through Internship and Job Fairs, tabling, marketing, and outreach efforts.
- Assist students and alumni in their career journeys through rapport building and counseling techniques and theories.

Graduate Assistant Experience
As a Graduate Assistant, you will have an opportunity to:
- Provide individual career support and co-facilitate presentations. Content may include topics such as: career planning, guiding self-exploration, choosing a major, developing confidence and decision-making skills, exploring strengths, values, skills, and personality, designing a job search strategy, researching personal interests, learning how to build connections, preparing for interviews, building a LinkedIn profile, writing a resume and cover letter, and conducting informational interviews.
- Work closely with a team of professional career counselors to develop innovative and inclusive programming and resources representative of the CU Denver population, including guides, handouts, presentations, and recordings.
- Represent the Career Center through Internship and Job Fairs, tabling, marketing, and outreach efforts.
Supervision
Weekly 1-on-1 supervision and weekly team meetings with professional development.
Theoretical Orientation
The CU Denver Career Center utilizes the following approaches: Narrative Counseling, Strengths-Based Counseling, Motivational Interviewing, Brief/Solution-Focused Counseling, and Career Coaching. We administer assessments including the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Clifton Strengths, and Strong Interest Inventory.
Qualifications
Must be in a master’s program in Counseling, Social Work, Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related degree. If required by program, applicant must have completed Practicum.
