Our Interiors Division is looking for a year-round Engineering Intern for its location in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
Your mission, roles and responsibilities
The PLTE Intern is responsible for aiding the Engineering: Product Line & Technologies (PLTE) Department in completion of specific assigned tasks and projects. Through successful completion of these tasks and projects the Intern will obtain experience and knowledge within their field of educational pursuit within the automotive industry.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in creation of FIS standards
- Research programs globally to determine best practices for incorporation into standards and guidelines
- Analyze illustrations through use of CAD programs and work with designers to modify existing CAD data for use in standards
- Participate in special program or research task forces as needed
- Work cross-functionally with all GTS technologies, Concept Engineering and Innovation groups
- Assist within each of the GTS missions:
- PLTE Mission A: “Build the Technology roadmap through internal and external benchmark, innovation drive and Strategic Plan fueling”
- PLTE Mission B: “Create and Maintain standards including lessons learned and capitalization”
- PLTE Mission C: “Promote and deploy the Technology portfolio of standards from acquisition to serial life”
- Responsibilities within Mission D: Develop the Technology competencies within FIS, animating networks and technical trainings
- Support the leadership and commitment from top management according to the Group environmental policy and Group Quality Policy
- Propose continuous improvement ideas in business efficiency and cost reduction
- Capitalizes on knowledge and shares best practices / lessons learned across organization and within the site

Your profile and competencies to succeed
Knowledge / Skills:
- Basic to intermediate experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc..) is required.
- Strong communication skills required
- Basic knowledge of automotive design and manufacturing
- Knowledge and exposure in working with CAD programs,
- Especially Team Center, VisView and/or Catia
- Ability to interpret CAD drawings required
- Data manipulation in Excel or Minitab desirable
- Ability to work independently for assignments and communicate progress
- Ability to organize data and illustrations into presentation form
Education / Experience:
- Full or part time student:
- Must be a currently enrolled student at an accredited university (Junior or Senior status)
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree within Engineering
