Community Health Gap Year Fellowship 2026-27

Project Horseshoe Farm is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with sites in Greensboro and Marion, Alabama and Pomona, California. HSF offers service and support programs to improve the health and quality of life of adults and children in our partner communities.

HSF Fellows make positive impacts in the community by working with patients and physicians in a "health partners" program, working with children through in-school and after-school programs, and working with seniors and other vulnerable adults in community center programs and housing programs.

Project Horseshoe Farm offers Community Health Fellowship programs in Alabama and California. Alumni consistently express how transformative their Fellowship experience has been, and Fellows go to some of the top medical schools, graduate programs, and nonprofit organizations across the U.S.

This upcoming year, HSF is offering our traditional Gap-Year Fellowship, which will begin June of 2026 and finish July of 2027 at the Greensboro, Marion, and Pomona sites. Our application deadlines are as follows:

  • Priority Deadline: Sunday, October 26th, 2025 at 11:59pm CT
  • Second Deadline: (if spots still available) Sunday, January 18th, 2026 at 11:59pm CT.
  • Final Deadline: (if spots still available) Sunday, March 15th, 2026 at 11:59pm CT.
    • Note: admissions will be rolling from January 18th onwards as space allows. Additionally, we strongly encourage applying for the Priority or Second Deadline as spots may fill before the Final Deadline.

Our website gives a good overview of our programs, and we highly encourage all applicants to reach out to apply@projecthsf.org to request a conversation with a current Fellow in order to better learn whether the Fellowship is right for them. Once you have decided that the Fellowship is a good fit, please apply through our online form.
