About Share My Lesson

Share My Lesson is a free digital platform and AFT member offering designed to empower educators, school personnel, families, and caregivers with access to high-quality, user-generated, standards-aligned preK–12 lesson plans, classroom resources, and professional learning webinars. With over 400,000 resources and a dynamic community of educators, Share My Lesson is a go-to source for inspiration, collaboration, and time-saving tools to support student learning and educator growth.

Internship Overview

This internship is ideal for recent graduates or graduate students of education policy, curriculum development, education technology, or a related field. The Share My Lesson intern will play an integral role in supporting the platform’s content strategy, resource development, and educator engagement efforts.

Interns will gain hands-on experience in the intersection of policy, pedagogy, and digital learning platforms while contributing to the promotion and curation of innovative, equity-focused teaching resources that support public education and AFT members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and curate high-quality instructional content aligned to current education standards and timely topics.
  • Assist in developing and organizing collections of lesson plans and classroom resources based on member needs and national campaigns.
  • Support planning and execution of webinars and professional learning opportunities hosted on the Share My Lesson platform.
  • Analyze platform usage and engagement data to inform outreach and content strategy.
  • Help draft blog posts, email campaigns, and resource highlights for educator audiences.
  • Contribute to the design and rollout of special initiatives and national campaigns (e.g., Back to School, Black History Month, Mental Health Awareness).
  • Assist in promoting Share My Lesson to AFT affiliates and partners, helping to increase visibility and membership engagement.
  • Attend education-related convenings and webinars; summarize takeaways and share ideas to inform resource development.

Desired Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a graduate program in education policy, curriculum and instruction, edtech, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with K–12 teaching and learning trends, education equity issues, and digital resource platforms.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and research skills.
  • Detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with educators or in K–12 settings is a plus.
  • Passion for public education and a commitment to supporting educators and students.

Internship Details

Time Commitment: Part-time (minimum 20 hours/week) or full-time (up to 35 hours/week)

Compensation:

  • $17/hour (undergraduate students)
  • $20/hour (graduate students)

Location: In-person at AFT Headquarters, Washington, D.C.
