Talent Acquisition Specialist
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: HR Director
Location: Remote (Volunteer)
Time Commitment: 3–8 hours/week (flexible)
Purpose of the Role
The Talent Acquisition Specialist supports Unity Bands’ mission by leading efforts to attract, assess, and engage high-quality volunteers across all departments. This role is responsible for executing recruitment strategies that align with the organization's culture and goals, while helping build scalable systems for sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
We are seeking someone with at least 1 year of experience in talent acquisition, recruiting, or a related field. This role is also open to emerging HR professionals who understand the function of talent acquisition and are ready to grow in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the HR Chair to design and implement recruitment strategies that meet department needs
Source and screen candidates across a variety of functions including administration, marketing, community outreach, and leadership
Maintain clear and engaging job postings that reflect Unity Bands’ mission and volunteer culture
Schedule and conduct interviews or coordinate with committee leads to ensure consistent evaluation practices
Contribute to onboarding processes and documentation to support smooth volunteer transitions
Track recruitment progress, volunteer capacity, and role fulfillment using shared tracking tools or systems
Recommend improvements to talent processes and pipelines, including outreach and long-term recruitment planning
Assist with workforce planning projects or talent audits as needed
Requirements
At least 6 months to 1 year of experience in talent acquisition, recruiting, or a related HR function
Familiarity with end-to-end recruitment processes (sourcing, screening, interviewing, onboarding)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaborate with a remote team
Passion for mission-driven work and interest in nonprofit talent strategy
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS), HRIS tools, or shared platforms like Trello, Airtable, etc.
Exposure to workforce planning, volunteer management, or HR analytics
Interest in long-term growth within human resources or organizational development
