Environmental Health and Safety Co-op
Job Summary:
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Co-op provides support to the EHS team in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs that promote a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace. This hands-on role provides real-world experience in a dynamic prototype and manufacturing environment for a student while earning their degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Engineering, or a related field. The EHS Co-op contributes to various EHS initiatives and continuous improvements across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments in both production and office environments to ensure compliance with safety regulations and internal policies.
- Support the development, coordination, and delivery of EHS training materials, including new hire orientation, refresher training, and safety campaigns.
- Participate in incident investigations and monitors the implementation and completion of corrective actions.
- Maintain and update EHS documentation, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inventories, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) records, and compliance logs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and reinforce a culture of safety and environmental stewardship across the organization.
- Assist with coordination of emergency drills and ensure emergency response equipment is maintained and ready for us.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including conducting ergonomic assessments and supporting efforts related to waste reduction and energy conservation.
Position Qualifications:
- Undergraduate student working towards an Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or other relevant degree.
- Must be able to work between 15-29 hours per week.
- Must possess and maintain a minimum of 3.0 GPA.
- Must fulfill 24 credit hours in one calendar year.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to handle numerous assignments simultaneously.
- Exceptional phone etiquette and capacity to always provide exceptional customer service.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Software, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Co-op students may be eligible to work up to 4 years if enrolled in a college or university and fulfill the criteria noted above.

- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment.
- Ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen.

- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about in industrial environments, and on uneven terrain.
- Works in a temperature-controlled office environment, with occasional work in outdoor weather conditions, and in industrial environments.
