Position: Translation Services Volunteer
Location: Various
Reports To: Volunteer Coordinator
Schedule: Flexible; Typically, 2–6 hours per week
Position Description:
We are currently seeking a compassionate and reliable volunteer who enjoys helping others through their ability to speak Arabic and Spanish languages. This role provides supportive services to patients and families in the hospice setting and involves offering comfort and culturally sensitive communication to individuals from the Arabic and Hispanic backgrounds during end-of-life care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide translation and interpretation services to Arabic or Spanish speaking patients and families both in-home or facility settings to assist communication with hospice staff
- Assist in patient-family communications, helping explain care plans and hospice services as needed.
Core Responsibilities for All Volunteers:
- Follow Michigan Palliative and Hospice Care policies and procedures
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and organizational information
- Complete orientation and any required training
- Communicate clearly and promptly with the Volunteer Coordinator
