Chemical Technician – Plant David Ratcliffe Combined Cycle

Job Summary

 This position performs technical and analytical services essential to the operation of a combined cycle power plant, including water treatment, and chemical analysis of water and wastewater; provides chemical protection of the steam generating equipment to minimize outages due to corrosion and deposits in steam cycle components; minimizes the loss of efficiency and possible replacement of steam generating, condensing and turbine mechanical components; ensures compliance with governmental and environmental regulation regarding water discharges.

Job Duties Include: 

• Assist with operating and maintaining water treatment facility and processes which could include filtration systems, reverse osmosis systems, demineralizers, and wastewater treatment plants for production of deionized/ultra-pure water
• Perform sampling and analytical testing of various media (process water, storm water, cooling water systems, sewage treatment plant, etc.)
• Assist with calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment and instrumentation
• Assist with Chemical truck unloading
• Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable environmental and safety & health regulations

Job Requirements 

• BS Degree in chemistry or other field of science with minimum of 12 semester hours of Chemistry required.

Other requirements 

• Must be available for night, overtime, weekend and holiday work as required.
• Must be able to work in extreme climates and environments (e.g., cold, hot, dusty, humid).
• The essential job functions include lifting 50 pounds, working/climbing at heights, and crawling through small confined spaces for inspections.
• This position requires call-out and overtime and works 8 hour shifts on a rotating day/weekend/evening schedule.
