Job Summary
As an Electrical / Computer Engineer Intern at BPMI, you will be responsible for assisting in project-engineering oriented activities, beginning with system concept and continuing through the end of system life.
This opportunity will begin Summer 2026, working a full-time schedule (40 hours/week). Please note, this is not a remote position. You will be expected to come into the office for this opportunity.
Our internship will give you the opportunity to work in your field of study while simultaneously pursuing your bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university. These opportunities can enhance your academic training while teaching critical business skills and allowing you to learn about BPMI, the Navy, and the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
Essential Duties:
- Assist with the development of nuclear reactor instrumentation and control systems, electric power distribution systems, and related devices.
- Assist with the preparation of system performance and test specifications.
- Review supplier designs.
- Assist with the resolution of system start-up and testing phase problems.
- Perform engineering follow through manufacturing, test, and installation.

Minimum Job Requirements:
- Enrolled in an accredited Electrical or Computer Engineering undergraduate or graduate program.
- Minimum of four full semesters completed prior to your internship (~60 credits).
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Basic understanding and working knowledge of engineering drawings.
- Understanding and working knowledge of basic electrical engineering topics.
- Good oral and writing skills required.
- Ability to appropriately prioritize tasks and meet project need dates.
- Creative problem-solving capabilities.
