Timeline: One semester (3-4 months), flexible
Eisenhower Dance Detroit is seeking a School Director Intern to support the growth and development of the organization's educational programming. This includes the main School of EDD as well as satellite programs such as those at Detroit Country Day School. The School Director Intern is organized, proactive, and passionate about dance education, with a strong interest in arts administration and program development.
This role offers hands-on experience in event coordination, marketing, operations, and communication within a professional dance school environment.
Responsibilities
Program Development & Coordination
- Support the development and management of EDDYE and student events
- Assist in coordination of rehearsals and performance logistics with the EDDYE Artistic Director.
- Help organize and manage school performance planning and execution
Marketing & Communication
- Create and distribute school related marketing materials including social media content, postcards, and posters
- Assist with website updates and email communications to students and families
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager and School Directors to maintain outreach and engagement
Event & Production Support
- Help coordinate logistics for school performances such as dress rehearsals, tech rehearsals, and volunteer scheduling
- Assist with the creation and printing of showcase programs and promotional materials
- Support sponsorship efforts through vendor outreach and ad solicitation
Administrative & Operational Assistance
- Support School Directors with facility tasks including scheduling repairs, ordering supplies, and managing cleaning services
- Assist in managing studio rentals and bookings via MindBody software
- Help set up and monitor student work-study programs to ensure studio upkeep
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Interest in arts education, nonprofit management, or dance administration
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with Google Suite, Canva, Adobe Acrobat, and social media platforms preferred
- Passion for dance and education, with alignment to EDD’s mission
