IT Intern - Web Development

Primary Purpose

The primary purpose of an IT Intern-Web Development is to support CMS web development, maintenance, and troubleshooting while gaining hands-on experience with coding, design, and website functionality. They assist teams in improving digital platforms, ensuring optimal user experience, and implementing new technologies.

 

Major Responsibilities

Website Development & Maintenance – coding, updating, and maintaining website – front-end and back-end. Help integrate APIs and third-party services.

Troubleshooting & Debugging – Identify and resolve technical issues to improve functionality – front end and back-end.

Collaboration & Team Support – Work with developers, designers, and content teams on web projects. Engage in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to stay aligned with team goals.

 

Minimum Job Requirements

Location: This position is on-site and located in Waukesha, WI.

Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Experience with coding or programming (.Net)
  • Technical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Effective communication skills and attention to detail.
     

Preferred Job Requirements

Education: Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Data Science or IT.

Work Experience: Prior experience with coding projects, website design, or technical troubleshooting.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Basic web develop knowledge (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Familiarity with web frameworks (Angular, Vue, etc.).
  • Knowledge of version control systems (Git, GitHub, GitLab).
  • Knowledge of project/backlog management systems (ADO, Jira).
  • Knowledge of UI/UX principles and web accessibility standards.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Office Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
