HBCU Tour Coordinator VISTA Member

The Iota Phi Foundation is a broad network of nearly 200 African American college-educated men. 

Location: Anderson Manor, located in Pittsburgh’s northside, is our community hub for diverse programs. 

Main Program: The Pittsburgh Omega Mentoring Program and Sylvester Pace HBCU Tour is jointly coordinated by the Iota Phi Foundation and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.. 

This impactful program annually enrolls 90 11th-grade boys and girls from high schools in the Greater Pittsburgh region. Participants receive dedicated mentors and engage in mentoring activities fostering personal/academic growth. The program's pinnacle, the Annual Pittsburgh Omega Sylvester Pace HBCU Tour, transforms students by exposing them to Historically Black Colleges and Universities and cultural landmarks. 

Beyond college exploration, the program connects students with internships/employment in Greater Pittsburgh post-graduation, aiding regional talent retention. 

The VISTA Coordinator primarily builds the Iota Phi Foundation’s capacity by cultivating sponsorships/grants, developing a robust stakeholder engagement database, and enhancing workforce development components.

Responsibilities include: 

  • researching partnerships, 
  • developing sustainable volunteer recruitment/management, 
  • refining materials, and 
  • assisting with data collection/reporting for impactful outcomes.  
  • implement outreach strategies
  •  design impactful workshops
  • resource cultivation

This pivotal role demands commitment to youth development, equitable educational and professional pathways, as well as program sustainability.
