Business Operations Software Engineer - Spring 2026 Co-op

This co-op will be hybrid, and students must be located near one of our U.S. offices – Wellesley, MA; Kansas City, MO; Hartford, CT; Portland, ME; Milwaukee, WI.

 

The Role
The Sun Life U.S. DentaQuest Claims Technology team is looking for a proactive, positive, and dynamic team player to join our team to design and code innovative automation solutions to help our team focus less on administrative tasks and more on human-powered decision making. In this role you will gain valuable, real-world experience working with both business operations and IT colleagues, allowing you opportunity to learn where technology and operations intersect to produce business value.  You will host meetings, do opportunity analysis, prioritize and implement code-based automations that will help our operations team run more efficiently and with higher quality outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity to get hands-on experience and see immediate impact.

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Regularly meets with operations colleagues to identify and design automations

Develops business requirements for proposed automations and evaluate the cost-benefit between them ultimately decide which ones to prioritize

Implements prioritized automations using object-oriented programming techniques

Carefully and thoroughly tests / deploys automations

Monitors and manages execution of the automations and resolves issues as they arise

Drafts and sends communications to the team highlighting new automations and their value to the team

Performs other duties as assigned

Core skill sets needed for this role:

Experience with object-oriented design and programming (Microsoft C# preferred)

Experience with IDE development tools (Microsoft Visual Studio or Code preferred)

Analytical skills

Ability to set up, conduct and manage effective meetings

Working knowledge of MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint Outlook, etc…)

Excellent verbal written communication skills

Proactive, able to manage multiple projects with demanding deadlines

Highly motivated, self-driven, focused, strong attention to detail

 

The Candidate
To be eligible for a co-op at Sun Life, you must meet the following requirements:

Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university during the time of the co-op (January 2026 – June 2026)

Must be an undergraduate or graduate student in a related field of study

Eligible to legally work in the United States

Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) during co-op session

 

Compensation for this role will be around $22 an hour.
