VanEck’s Summer Intern Program includes exposure across the firm through educational, mentorship, and networking events. As an Intern, you will also be exposed to the firm’s senior management, gain an understanding of the financial services industry and learn critical business skills. Our program spans 10 weeks and runs from June 1 – August 7, with our IT intern joining a week early.
As an IT Infrastructure Summer Intern, you’ll play a hands-on role in the daily operations of VanEck’s IT Service Desk. Your work will directly support the firm’s productivity by ensuring devices, virtual desktops, and communication tools are functioning smoothly. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Includes the following, other duties may be assigned as needed:
- Image, configure, and deploy thin clients and laptops for onboarding, replacements, and internal projects
- Assist with Azure Virtual Desktop (VDI) support, including user setup, troubleshooting, and connectivity
- Serve as the primary IT support resource for the summer intern class, acting as the dedicated “Intern Service Desk”
- Provide general support for Zoom-based communications, including meetings and softphone use
- Support and maintain Zoom Rooms and conference room AV systems
- Assist with physical organization and movement of IT equipment as needed
- Support device lifecycle tasks, including secure wiping, repurposing, and retiring of end-user hardware
- Participate in user onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, access reviews, and asset assignments
- Contribute to IT documentation efforts, including procedural guides, checklists, and knowledge base articles
- Provide general support to the wider user base when required, under the guidance of the Service Desk team
- Collaborate with peers and IT staff to test and improve self-service tools and automation workflows
Qualifications
- Strong interest in IT infrastructure, cloud networking, and support in a professional environment
- Curiosity about capital markets and the financial industry, and an eagerness to support the technology that enables trading, research, and investment operations
- Familiarity with Windows OS, Microsoft 365, Zoom, and virtual desktop environments (VDI)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when assisting peers and non-technical users
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow technical procedures and update documentation
- Professionalism and initiative — able to take ownership of tasks with light supervision
- Comfortable working hands-on with hardware, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Team-first attitude, with a willingness to support interns and full-time employees alike
Education and/or Experience
- Currently entering junior level (3rd year) or beyond within a 4-year college program
- Prior experience in a corporate or helpdesk setting is helpful, but not required

Compensation
- The maximum hourly rate for this position is $25 an hour
