Fabrication Engineering Intern
Job Summary
As a Fabrication Engineering Intern, you will be joining a multidisciplinary team committed to advancing scientific knowledge and solving our customer’s toughest challenges. Operating in a collaborative environment, the successful candidate will apply their skills to support the Defense Enablement Bioscience team within National Security. We are currently seeking a Fabrication Engineering Intern for Summer 2026. This position is full-time, onsite located in Columbus, OH. The application deadline is November 10, 2025 or until filled.
Responsibilities
Intern activities may include some or all of the following:
- Assist with design and fabrication of custom test chambers
- Assist with inventory and upkeep of machine shop
- Learn about aerosol generation, collection, and analysis at scales from benchtop – field
- Conduct vapor/gas and aerosol challenge tests according to standard procedures
- Learn to apply project leadership skills to enhance process efficiencies
- Apprentice with senior staff members who have been performing this work for 30+ years
Key Qualifications
- Must be currently pursuing bachelor’s or master's degree in an Engineering discipline or Technical degree with Engineering focus
- Must have at least two years of undergraduate coursework completed by the start of the internship
- Must have significant hands-on technical experience in a combination of design, machining, tooling, drilling and welding
- Mechanical aptitude, basic electrical skills, and machine shop skills
- Coursework in business administration or project management
- Must be a sole U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain government security clearance
