Mechanical Crane Maintenance Engineer Co-Op

We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical  Crane Maintenance Engineer  Co-Op to join our team. This role is a great opportunity for a student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. You'll get hands-on experience by assisting engineers, helping with projects, and organizing important documents and drawings. 

 

Key Responsibilities & Projects

Daily tasks include assisting engineers with both new and ongoing projects, investigating potential equipment upgrades, and continuing to organize drawings and documents. The role also involves working on specific projects, which are assigned based on experience level.

 

Projects may include:

Entry-Level:

  • Contacting local suppliers for quotes on AGV spare parts.
  • Working on an equalizer bar bushing upgrade.
  • Assisting with self-lubricating bearing upgrades for various cranes.

 

Intermediate-Level:

  • Designing a crane rail A-Frame.
  • Helping with coupling upgrades for the Virginia bridge.
  • Working on the Kone main hoist coupling upgrade.
  • Assisting with self-lubricating bearing upgrades for various cranes.

 

Advanced-Level:

  • Working on platform and lighting additions for the AOD, EAF, and Scrapyard bays.

Required Skills & Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles. Experience is not required for this position. We do require proficiency in Excel, Word, and ACAD.

 

Please note: As part of this co-op, you will be assigned a special project to be completed monthly or by the end of your term. You will also be required to submit monthly reports detailing your daily tasks and project progress.

 

This co-op position is a paid opportunity for the summer of 2026. Student will be able to co-op a maximum of 40 hours a week.
