Engineering Intern

Title:

 

         Engineering Intern, Data Management Services 

 

Primary Function:

 

Assist Project Managers and Engineers with project related tasks including field work, communication, and data assimilation. 

 

Reports To:

 

         Manager, Data Management Services 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize project management system (Asana) to track project work.
  • Work with project manager to prepare for site visits.
  • Support project manager while conducting field inspections and evaluations (Average travel 20-30% based on schedule and availability.)
  • Enter and manage data acquired from the field in the database.
  • Review project plans and compile quantity take-offs needed to assemble project budgets.
  • QA/QC review process when producing DMS reports.
  • Create and support evaluation data, including:
  • Create and maintain existing construction, conditions, and recommendations reports.
  • Evaluate data using Condition Index and Evaluation Rating Systems.
  • Support budgeting process.
  • Print and assemble reports.
  • Perform condition photo assimilation and analysis.
  • Maintain active and archived project files.
  • Support DMS online orientation.
  • Maintain electronic data for production, including DMS history.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a college degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Experience working with database systems and excel graphs in an engineering/production manner. Strong in computer skills.
  • Previous experience in field inspection or quality control preferred.
  • Experience with project management software preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals.
  • Regular use of computer, tablet, cell phone, binoculars, and spotting scope.

 

 

  • Ability to read small print, road signs, architectural drawings, etc.
  • Occasional exposure to loud noises on job sites.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation such as:
  • Lifting 50+ lbs. regularly, repeated bending, climbing, and kneeling.
  • Ability to repeatedly climb a ladder 40 feet.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme climates.
  • Must be comfortable with heights.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

 

Travel Percentage:

 

  • 20-30% on average, more during the summer.
  • Strong opportunities for in-person field experience assisting with project execution, data acquisition, and support through report creation and delivery.
