The CHEER (Community Health Engagement and Empowerment Research) Lab provides undergraduate students with hands-on training in research skills and opportunities to work on faculty-led research projects from different disciplines within the School of Health Sciences. Job Description
The CHEER Lab will be hiring a Research Assistant (RA) [ES1] for Fall 2025 – Winter 2026. The RA will provide approximately 10 hours of service per week over the course of a semester. The RA will help facilitate online research training modules in Moodle, recruit diverse undergraduate students using inclusive practices, manage CHEER Lab undergraduate researchers, provide feedback to students, help lead weekly meetings, engage in program evaluation activities, and meet regularly with Dr. Van Wasshenova.
The RA will be required to attend all CHEER Lab weekly meetings (Fall 2025: Wed 12pm – 1pm) and Winter 2026 (Wed 12pm-1pm), in addition to meeting with Dr. Van Wasshenova.
The RA should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, reply promptly to faculty requests, the ability to work independently and in a team environment, and be highly self-motivated. A background in health science research is preferred.

Qualifications:
Research Assistants must be fully admitted and enrolled in the Master's Program for at least 8 credits for each semester of the academic year in a graduate program. Graduate course work and/or research must contribute directly to the satisfaction of Oakland's degree requirements. Graduate assistants must have and maintain good academic standing (3.0 grade point average).
