KeHE’s Internship Program is seeking rising seniors who have demonstrated high performance and leadership in academics, work, both on campus, and in volunteer settings. Top candidates will be evaluated on their cultural fit with KeHE’s core values, and with their aspirations to advance into leadership roles in their careers.

This highly-selective program offers the intern to own and drive impactful projects for their business unit and beyond over the course of 10-12 weeks. KeHE will invest in the growth of each participant by including them in projects, mentoring relationships, as well as a variety of internally and externally facilitated learning events and workshops.

Full-time roles may be available upon graduation, including entry into our Rotational Leadership Program (LPA).

Essential Functions:

  • Centralized Routing Support: Assist with daily routing activities by analyzing shipment data, identifying cost-effective routes, and ensuring on-time deliveries across KeHE’s distribution network.
  • Transportation Management Systems (TMS): Gain hands-on experience with KeHE’s TMS by entering data, running system checks, and supporting optimization initiatives that improve routing accuracy and efficiency.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Develop and maintain reports that track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, cost per mile, and route efficiency. Provide insights and recommendations to improve transportation performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Continuous Improvement teams to understand business needs, troubleshoot routing challenges, and support initiatives that enhance service levels.
  • Process Improvement Projects: Participate in process mapping, identify inefficiencies in current routing and transportation workflows, and propose solutions to streamline operations.
  • Corporate Transportation Support: Provide project-based assistance to the corporate transportation team, including researching industry best practices, benchmarking, and supporting strategic initiatives.

Learning Objectives

During the 10–12 week internship, the Transportation Intern will:

  • Gain hands-on experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and learn how technology drives cost efficiency and service reliability.
  • Develop a practical understanding of centralized routing and how it impacts KeHE’s supply chain performance.
  • Build analytical skills through reporting and KPI tracking, with exposure to real-world logistics metrics and data-driven decision-making.
  • Strengthen professional skills by collaborating cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, and Continuous Improvement teams.
  • Contribute to process improvement projects, learning how to identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend tactical solutions.
  • Acquire a broad understanding of corporate transportation strategy and the role it plays in supporting KeHE’s mission to serve customers efficiently.
