2026 AAPD Summer Internship Program
AAPD’s Internship Program places students and recent graduates with disabilities in paid internships. Interns build leadership skills, explore career opportunities, and connect with the disability community.
For Summer 2026, AAPD will offer a hybrid internship program with some interns joining remotely from across the country while some interns will be based in Washington D.C. Interns will work full-time for 32 hours a week, for 10 weeks during the summer.
Interns will:
- Participate in a 1-week orientation to prepare for their internship, meet with the cohort, and learn about the disability rights movement
- Work at their a paid internship program Monday - Thursday
- Participate in weekly programming on Fridays
- Attend events and network on Capitol Hill, conferences, community events, briefings, and more
- Connect one-on-one with a mentor who provides career guidance
- Join virtual community events
Interested potential applicants can join a virtual information session on Thursday, October 9 from 4PM - 5PM ET to learn more about the program and the application process and get your questions answered. CART and ASL will be provided. The session will be recorded and available on the AAPD website.
